The month of October is a relativity busy one, in that I actually have *two* events on my social calendar! (Wow!)

I'm going to a Halloween party on the thirtieth, and then my uncle's wedding the next day. (Is it telling that I almost capitalised UNCLE? Thought not.)

Passed my first German assessment yesterday, I can now - with confidence - say "I have a house" in German and have Germans understand me. I feel this is a big step forwards. Granted, I couldn't tell them much else, so they'd probably look at me like some sort of lost mental patient while I bleat 'Ich habe ein Haus' pitifully at them.

Also, Stephen Gately died. Which is weird. He was my schoolgirl crush back in the day, (along with Ant and Dec, who I still have a schoolgirl crush on). Me and Maz went to see Boyzone in concert, and Maz bought me his solo album when it came out for my birthday. He was only 33 or so, too, which is very sad.

Going to the volunteer centre today, to see if they can get me into museum volunteering. Here's hoping.

American Psycho

fuck yeah!
Bought American Psycho on DVD for £3.

recent purchase round-up!

Bought a hard drive for my Xbox 306, a 60gig one. Came with headphones, cable and 3mths Xbox live gold membership, for £60. Bought Point lookout + Brotherhood of steel expansions for Fallout 3 (brilliant add-on), and the Shivering Isles + Knights of the nine expansion for Oblivion (shivering isles is fun, haven't tried kotn). Might get Mothership Zeta for fallout, too. Borrowed Operation Anchorage and The pitt off Clare, haven't done the pitt yet, but enjoyed Anchorage.

Well, I didn't get anything on my researched list, but I did get two 'new' pros books, No 12 'Foxhole' and No 9 'No Stone', a present for Clare, too, so that wasn't bad, plus saw where this course was supposed to be being held.

Now off to online shop!

fuck yeah!
We got a shower pump, yaaaaay! No more standing in the drizzle for an hour washing the soap from my hair.

Also, new bargains! Got Iron Man, The Dark Knight (2dsk) and Indiana Jones(2dsk) and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for £13 on Amazon.

Today going to Basingstoke seeking out a hard drive for my 360 and maybe some Fallout expansions (and maybe Oblivion too) I've made a list :)

No job yet, I'm either overqualified or lacking experience, or both, have to start a two week course in September, full time (9.30-4), which is supposedly going to teach me how to get a job. They're going to refund my train fair, at least. The same day my new German course starts in the evening, which should be fun :) My friend sent me the cutest little book from Germany.

Been playing Fallout 3 and Viva Piñata, Trouble in Paradise. TiP is soooooo cute, I love Lemmonings :D Fallout 3 less cute, but fills my desire for UrbEx nicely. It's got me interested in the Cold War again, so I've been looking at some stuff from that era and my Cold War textbooks. It's frightening to think how close we came to it on some occasions.

Mah b.day

Hooray! I am 24 years old!

My presents include: Fallout 3, Lord of the Rings Conquest, The Darjeeling Ltd, A history of Histories and Devil May Care.

Had a great party, where we all sat around and chatted, then me and Clare went out to eat on the day, so yeah. Good times :)

Illyadorable.
David McCallum's on 'the one show', on BBC one right now. It's a terrible, terrible show, but David, with his usual class is saving the show. He's actually being a better interviewer than the presenters... not that that's hard. <3 D to the M c-squared.

Woke up late this morning hearing shouting outside, sounded like a bloke in the street with a loud hailer so I got up and my mum and sister are in the back bedroom watching this bloke holding onto his wife and little girl proper screaming "You wont leave me" and then trying to cast the devil out of them. Then they all sit on the ground and one of the neighbours calls the police. They turn up and try to talk to him for maybe half an hour, then the police manage to get the bloke to let go and follow them to the police car. Another policeman goes to talk to the woman and the bloke runs back and tries to grab them/cast the devil out of them so the police restrain him and get him into a patrol car. It was a weird thing to wake up to on a Sunday morning.

Yes, I am nosey. Yes, my area is that uninteresting that this sort of thing is stupid rare. I've only known the police called twice to my street, once to move on some kids in the street after a party in one of the other houses and this. I'm sure we'll get more story soon, it's one of those 'everyone knows someone who knows someone else', not quite as direct as 'everyone knows everyone' but it's close.

01. Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper at their livejournal.
02. Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper.
03. Don't change your wallpaper before doing this. The point is to see what you had on.

I'm thinking of taking a course in German this year. Just a beginner one like the Russian course, (obviously), but since it's free because I'm on Jobseekers, I might as well.

So I bought Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise and Dead Space today 2 for £30. Not sure about Dead Space, but I haven't tried it yet so it could be amazing. Also went into Manpower and they told me they didn't have anything for me. *sigh* Ah well, back to my Piñatas!

So I'm watching a reality cop show, and they were trying to get in a house. The guy was drunk or something, wouldn't let them in. So they start battering down the door and the guy inside starts saying "I've got my head against the door!" (He doesn't, they can see him through the letterbox), anyway, they ram the door a bit and the guy shouts through the door:

"I'm unconscious now!"

Truly a criminal mastermind.

Lotus Europa!

  • May. 8th, 2009 at 6:16 PM
Wotup
Got my DVDs from Amazon the day after dispatch, yay! Garth Merenghi's Darkplace (£5!!) and 'The Cuckoo Waltz', (with the always lovely Lewis Collins). Anyway, the Lotus Europa, apparently Gavin's (Lew's character in CW) car... now me, I love a nice car. Can't get enough of them. Personally I'm holding out for a new model BMW Z4, dark green or dark red, (anyone fancy buying us one? Oh and insurance... and uh, driving lessons.) Although I'll settle for an Aston Martin or even an old school Jag. So I skip off to google for a looksee at the Lotus, (for the record, I think Lotus make some v.sexy cars)...

Behold! The 1971-5 Lotus Europa, oh hey, the front's very nice. Kinda standard for the time, nice line up to the... uh... the back there... uh... plenty of boot space I guess. So what exactly did happen there? I hear the performance was very good, but gee, car got a fat boot(y).

Apparently my dad's mate had one, he called it the 'flying cheese wedge' and they have a fiberglass body so they were light, and not that expensive. You also sat really low down and since the (I think he said a rover) engine was right behind the seats if you had an accident you were suddenly part of it.

This is the Lotus Europa SE (2008), which is... nice. Lost that extra weight up back and put on some muscle.

So yeah. Lotus Europa. I'd get the new one, and by that I mean imagine myself driving one around the grounds of my solid gold house.
